An ancient commander journeyed approximately 760km south in search of the cure for his skin diseases. He arrived at the destination successfully. In fact, he saw the physician who told him what to do to be healed. But sadly, the Commander got mad at the physician and went away without getting healed. Why? The military leader wants to get healed on his own terms and conditions not that of the physician. His name is Naaman and the physician is Prophet Elisha (Insight Passage: 2Kings 5). Naaman had a premeditated way towards his healing. (2Kings 5:9-11)
The human mind premeditates daily activities that the man needs to carry out. Man iterates his steps and actions, strategizes and prepare for the foreseeable future. For instance, a man plans how to propose to his fiancée, the size of the diamond stone on the ring, the venue of the proposal, the words and other romantic details. This is positive for careful planning and coordinated lifestyle nevertheless let’s not cross the line when we want our miracle from God. I mean let’s not have a premeditated way we want God to answer our prayers. Don’t tell how to do the miracle, the methods to use, the people or methods. DON’T BOX GOD!
For a Christian to experience miracle, he/she needs to have faith and not be concerned with the methods God should adopt to do the supernatural. Let HIM choose how to meet your needs. Don’t skim to get results as a Christian. It could be fatal. Remember Moses used another method than what God wanted. God wanted him to speak to the rock but he smote the rock. Water flowed but Moses did not make it for the Promise Land. Jesus did same miracle in different ways for 3 different blind men. Blind Bartimaeus (Mark 10:46-52), the man that washed at the pool of Siloam (John 9:1-7) and the Blind that saw men as trees (Mark8:22-25).
Whenever we choose the way we want the miracle to happen, we are indirectly tell God his ways aren’t good enough. We are boxing God. We can box God through any of these: traditions, religion, thoughts, prejudices, status quo or human reports. These boxes can’t contain the ALMIGHTY FATHER we serve. Don’t let tradition prejudice, religion or whatever denies our answer to prayer. Most times, answers to our supplication do not come with the finishes of our imagination rather with the façade that God wants. It may be counsel, instructions, relationships, wisdom, opportunities etc. but whatever it is, let God choose the way to do the miracle.
“My thoughts are not your thoughts, and my ways are not your ways,” declares the LORD. “Just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways, and my thoughts are higher (refined, deeper, and processed) than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8-9 GW emphasis mine)
So don’t confine God to your reasoning and say your promotion would only come from your boss or your need can only be met by your salary, family or friends. He can choose other ways to meet your needs.
Dearest, it is important to keep the box open when we come to the Father. By doing this, you would allow the God of Ways and Means to do what He does best. Solving impossibilities in limitless number of ways!
PS. Naaman got his healing by the encouragement of a servant that had no box for God.
